   Course Summary
This course is for diagnostic assessors who want to develop confidence in interpreting tricky profiles. This session will complement the morning session, by examining tricky profiles which are dyslexic profiles which also contain co-occurring difficulties , which teacher assessors’ may diagnose. The session will focus on the assessment tools which teachers use in their assessments of students
   Course Detail

This course is for diagnostic assessors who want to develop confidence in interpreting tricky profiles. A complex or tricky profile is where the learner has a profile which contains co-occurring difficulties. This course will help the delegate to understand how a diagnostic report can help both the learner and educational establishment to recognize the learner's strengths and weaknesses, enabling effective intervention strategies to applied to the learner. The course will consider tricky profile with consideration of best practice in reporting writing in accordance to SASC Guidelines, which will cover both statistical information and qualitative information which may affect the learner's academic performance.

It will include:

  • Interpreting profiles using WRIT as a test of underlying ability
  • Considering qualitative information, including the student's background, impact of intervention, strengths and compensatory strategies
  • Looking at co-occurring difficulties

  • Reviewing principles of psychometrics, statistics, assessment and underlying theory
  • SpLD testing methods, interpretation, report writing, feedback and test materials
