An opportunity for assessors/ specialist teachers to consolidate their knowledge of psychometric principles and secure their skills in managing statistical information to ensure data is calculated and reported with the utmost accuracy.    Course Detail

Quantitative data is a fundamental component of all full diagnostic reports and if a diagnosis is to be fully supported then it is essential that all data is calculated and reported with utmost accuracy. The half day training is appropriate for all age ranges and all educational settings and is appropriate for newly qualified assessors as well as those with greater experience who would like to refresh their understanding of psychometric principles and secure their knowledge in managing statistical information. It will consider how scores are represented and corresponding level descriptors and examine the merits of composite scores taking account of advice in test manuals. It will explore the concept of statistical significance, prevalence and applying information given in data tables. It will discuss confidence intervals, using data in test manuals to determine and how to calculate these with certainty. Implicit throughout will be how best to present results in diagnostic reports to meet a range of audiences. Numbers on the day will be limited to allow delegates ample opportunity to use worksheets and ask questions.
