This course is suitable for fully qualified specialist assessors who wish to update their professional practice with regard to Examination Access Arrangements.
   Course Summary
This is an 8-week online specialist CPD course which aims to provide the information and updates required for Examination Access Arrangement processes and assessment requirements. The course supplements practitioners existing training and experience in carrying out assessments and supporting students with dyslexia and related SpLDs. Participants receive mentored training in the completion of Form 8 for access arrangements.
   Course Detail
This course provides continuing professional development on Examination Access Arrangements in the context of dyslexia and other SpLDs. The course is designed for professionals who need further information or updating in this area of disability in order that they can write reports in support of Examination Access Arrangement requests. The latest JCQ regulations and report writing requirements within this framework will be covered.

This course is run as an e-learning course via Moodle our Virtual Learning Environment. It takes on average about 35 hours over 6 weeks to complete the whole course depending on prior experience.  The course provides:
  • Review of the latest JCQ Regulations for Exam Access Arrangements
  • Revision and updating for specialist teachers
  • Brief coverage of theoretical background and technical terms
  • Discussion of case studies and report writing
  • Useful handouts
  • Discussion forum to share questions and ideas and to keep up-to-date
  • Submission of example Form 8s and a Certificate of Completion from Dyslexia Action.

   Pre-requisites
  • The course is suitable for anyone who already holds a specialist assessment qualification such as an accredited university Level 7 Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in the Assessment of Dyslexia/SpLD. Candidates with other relevant qualifications and experience may also be accepted and are asked to provide evidence on application.
