An opportunity for those involved in assessing for access arrangements to gain or refresh their knowledge of the principles and practice of assessment and the requirements for Access Arrangements for GCSE and GCE for SpLD learners.
   Course Detail

This full day course has been specifically designed for those teachers/ tutors new to assessment for Access Arrangements or those who wish to refresh their knowledge on meeting the needs of learners with SpLD

The course will discuss current regulations relating to GCSE and GCE qualifications. In this context it aims to develop delegates' knowledge of the principles of standardised assessment and selection of appropriate tests to establish individual needs. It will address best practice in managing the assessment process, communication to relevant parties, essential record keeping and processing applications. Throughout the sessions, examples of typical case studies will be discussed.

  • • Explore changes to the current academic year’s JCQ Regulations for Access Arrangements at GCSE and GCE levels
  • • Review the principles of standardised assessment and selection of reliable, valid and up-to-date measures to determine access arrangements to meet learners’ individual needs
  • • Investigate gathering evidence from the assessment and the centre to fulfil the requirements for common access arrangements
  • • Consider best practice in reporting outcomes, informing colleagues and learners to comply with JCQ regulations including JCQ Form 8, essential record keeping systems and processing applications
