Delegates will gain a secure understanding of best practice and will enhance their skills in both assessment and intervention in this key area.
   Course Detail

Reading comprehension is a key area of assessment and intervention, and this course aims to capture what is meant by best practice in assessing a learner and identifying individualised strategies to support the development of comprehension skills.  The day aims to provide SpLD specialist tutors and assessors working across the age range from primary to Higher Education with the opportunity to explore SASC guidelines in relation to the assessment of reading comprehension. We will look at some popular tests in detail to evaluate their use in the assessment setting, and will showcase some effective interventions to support and develop reading comprehension and recall.  Participants will leave the session feeling more confident in their awareness of best practice guidelines and in their ability to have a positive impact on the development of comprehension skills.
