Description

The course offers a detailed discussion of the issues involved in assessing for dyslexia in home-educated learners. Key areas to be explored include obtaining background information, forming a diagnostic decision and writing tailored recommendations for support.

This course focuses on the issues surrounding the assessment of dyslexia in students who are not educated within the traditional school environment. It will examine how to obtain background information in order to inform assessment results and the impact of any disruptions to schooling. It aims to give assessors confidence in establishing a confirmation of diagnostic decision when assessing home-educated children. It will provide a range of tailored recommendations for parents to use at home. We will also hear from an experienced Head of an online school to obtain the perspective of what online schooling can offer.
