Description

The course will cover key aspects for consideration when choosing standardised tests, and the correct administration and interpretation of these tests, including:

  • Reliability and validity
  • Age appropriate testing
  • Costs and accessibility of tests
  • Standardisation
  • Currency
  • Interpretation of results
  • Interpretation of statistical data

There will be the opportunity to consider in depth a selection of tests from the following list:
WRIT, DASH, WRAT 5, ART 2, CTOPP 2, DRA 3, Access Readinh Test 3, and KTEA 3.

Sessions covering the following tests are also available online: BPVS 3, Dyslexia Portfolio, GORT 5, SPaRCS, TOMAL 2, TOWRE 2, WIAT 3 TUK, Woodcock Johnson IV UK and IRE edition and YARC.

Please note this course will take approximately 12 hours to complete. It is approved for 5 SASC-approved CPD hours. Any additional hours can be used towards general CPD hours. 

Learning outcomes

Delegates will be able to:

  • Understand and communicate the principles of educational testing with colleagues
  • Recognise and use a range of terminology relating to educational testing
  • Select tests appropriate to the assessment needs
  • Administer a range of tests appropriately
  • Interpret scores and suggest relevant intervention

Course prerequisites

It is assumed that the majority of delegates following this course either hold an Assessment Practising Certificate or are in the process of applying for one.
