Description

This full-day, face-to-face Masterclass provides an update on the JCQ access arrangements position for 2026–27 and supports delegates in applying the current regulations confidently and accurately. It covers relevant changes within the Instructions for Conducting Examinations, the March 2026 updates and supplementary guidance, subsequent JCQ clarifications, and the planned timetable for the next revision and implementation of the AARA.

Delegates will explore the evidence required to support access arrangements, including teacher feedback, normal way of working, student voice, and internal test and mock examination evidence. The course considers decision-making for 25% extra time, supervised rest breaks, and the use of technology, together with more complex candidate profiles. It also addresses recording the rationale on Form 8, Form 9, and centre records, maintaining a coherent evidence trail, and preparing for inspection. Learning is supported through practical examples, case-study activities, discussion, and a dedicated question and answer session.

Following the face-to-face event, delegates receive 60 days’ access to the separately recorded on-demand Masterclass, together with its supporting materials. This allows delegates to revisit the core content, consolidate their understanding, and support implementation within their centre.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Explain the planned timetable for revision and implementation of the AARA
  • Evaluate teacher feedback, student voice, normal way of working, and other centre-based evidence

Course prerequisites

Delegates should have a working knowledge of the JCQ access arrangements regulations and be involved in access arrangements practice within a school, college, or other examination centre. This is not an introductory course. Those new to access arrangements may benefit from completing the Castiglione Consulting Foundations course before attending.
