   Course Summary
This unit features the popular learning and memory assessment battery TOMAL2. The unit gives practitioners the opportunity to develop their knowledge of TOMAL2 through a cycle of study, focused activity and reflection​. It includes an examination of how some of the sub-tests can be used to give fresh insights into how to interpret and report on aspects of cognitive processing that are most likely to impact on academic performance for learners of all ages.
   Course Detail

This unit features the popular learning and memory assessment battery TOMAL2. The unit gives practitioners the opportunity to develop their knowledge of TOMAL2 through a cycle of study, focused activity and reflection​. It explores:

  • The usefulness of each of the TOMAL2 subtests and the underlying cognitive processes they tap.
  • The use of TOMAL2's Index Scoring system.
  • The interpretation of learner profiles.
  • The use of TOMAL2 subtest findings to produce reports that give insight into the aspects of cognitive processing that are most likely to impact on academic performance.
  • How reporting formats can be tailored for specific types of assessment purposes.

   Pre-requisites
  • The unit is designed for practitioners who need to scrutinise the background factors that influence performance in a range of academic and work-based settings.
  • This Level 7 unit (Master's Level) is recommended for those who have studied at this level some while ago and wish to refresh their knowledge (e.g. York Certificate/Diploma or Hornsby PG graduates) or those who have studied at least Level 5 SpLD and are considering working towards Level 7 study.
