TOMAL 2: Attention and Concentration Index only. Students are awarded a competence certificate if successful in the administration and scoring of the TOMAL 2 Attention and Concentration Index.
   Course Summary
This CPD course focuses on the administration and scoring of the Attention and Concentration Index within the Test of Memory and Learning (TOMAL 2). These are specifically TOMAL 2 subtests 9, 11,12,13,14 and not the test in full. This course is aimed at assessors who already have a good understanding of memory and psychometrics and does not focus on general test competencies in test administration practice.
   Course Detail
This CPD course aims to develop participant's competence in the administration and scoring of the Attention and 
Concentration Index within TOMAL 2. Course content is presented under the section topics below. It is recommended
that participants work through the topics in order of presentation both here, and online. Participants should 
engage with the course content prior to conducting their assessment and scoring submission.
1. Introduction to the TOMAL 2 (1 hour of study credit)
2. Test Administration and Scoring (12 hours of study credit)
3. Age Calculations (1 hour of study credit) 
4. Assessment of your practice in the administration and scoring of the TOMAL 2 (2 hours of study credit)
5. How to upload your videos to the VLE
Following study of sessions 1-4 you will conduct your own assessment using the Attention and Concentration Index
within TOMAL 2. Engaging in pre-assessment preparation, the filmed assessment, filmed scoring and upload of your
files is worth 4 hours of study credit.

  • This course is aimed at assessors who already have a good understanding of memory and working memory in particular.
  • This course is aimed at assessors who already have a good understanding of psychometrics and does not focus on general test competencies in test administration practice.It is expected that assessors taking this course will have good understanding of general test competencies in test administration practice.
   Learning Outcomes
  • On successful completion, participants will have acquired knowledge of the accurate administration of the TOMAL 2 Attention and Concentration Index
  • On successful completion, participants will have acquired knowledge of accurate scoring procedures required for TOMAL 2’s Attention and Concentration Index.
  • Course participants who are successful in the administration and scoring of the test will be awarded a Competence Certificate for the Attention and Concentration Index within TOMAL 2.
  • Course participants who are unsuccessful will be given detailed formative feedback advising on improvements needed to obtain a pass. A fee is payable for resubmission. Students cannot be credited for additional hours outside the 20 hours for additional study time/ preparation for re-submission.
