   Course Summary
Dyslexia in the workplace brings many benefits, it also present challenges for the adult and their colleagues. The environment, culture and audience for the report are very different, and sometimes the challenges the dyslexic adult is experiencing are complex. This course is for practitioners who wish to expand their knowledge to be able to assess and support adults in the workplace.
   Course Detail

Day 1:Assessment of Adults with SpLD (Dyslexia or Co-occurring difficulties) in the workplace.

We will explore:

  • Key differences in assessment.
  • Report writing.
  • Recommendations for reasonable adjustments.
  • The legal framework and funding for support.


Day 2:Supporting Adults with SpLD (Dyslexia or Co-occurring difficulties) in the workplace. 

We will explore:

  • Benefits and challenges of Dyslexia in the workplace.
  • Approach to support – the big picture
  • Teaching methodology, approaches and resources.
  • Fixing problems.
  • The legal framework; disclosure, confidentiality and reasonable adjustments.
   CPD Themes
  • Reviewing principles of psychometrics, statistics, assessment and underlying theory
  • SpLD testing methods, interpretation, report writing, feedback and test materials

  • Day 1: Candidates must already hold: Level 7 in SpLD or Equivalent
  • Day 2: Candidates must already hold: Level 5 in SpLD or equivalent.
   Learning Outcomes
  • Gained knowledge and understanding of the key differences when assessing adults in the workplace.
  • Gained an understanding of the key differences in report writing for adults in the workplace, whilst still keeping to the required professional guidelines
  • Reflected on your own professional practice, and reviewed your knowledge and understanding of SpLD assessment methods.
  • Gained an understanding of the benefits and challenges of dyslexia (SpLD) in the workplace.
  • Gained an understanding of the importance of delivering appropriate support and tuition for adults in a variety of settings.
