New developments in diagnostic reporting. This course is intended for specialist teacher assessors/psychologists already qualified in conducting diagnostic assessments wishing to explore the SASC new report formats for Pre and Post-16 age groups.
   Course Detail

Suitable for professionals working across all age ranges bearing in mind that, following recent guidance from the DfE, reports written by assessors holding an APC /HCPC registration at any stage have the potential to support Disabled Student's Allowance applications at any time in the future.

This course is intended to support specialist teacher assessors/psychologists in their use of the SASC New Report Formats for Pre and Post-16.  The new formats provide an opportunity for assessors to review and develop their diagnostic assessment report writing skills. 

Understanding and working successfully with the new report format will enable assessors to produce, reliable, accessible and useful assessment reports.  The course will review the psychometric principles underpinning statistical analysis and the compilation of quantitative information, as well as the role of qualitative analysis and observations to support the diagnostic decision.  Guidance will be given on how assessors might synthesise the range of evidence gathered as well as present succinct and clear comment.  

There will be opportunities to ask questions and for discussion with other professionals.

At the end of the day, delegates will have had the opportunity to: explore best practice with regard to the new report format and test selection; review current guidelines with regard to statistical analysis and the reporting of quantitative information in an accessible way; appreciate the role of qualitative information to inform the diagnostic decision; consider how best to communicate technical information to the non-specialist.
