Course Detail
The Mentoring
Programme is SASC approved and meets the latest guidelines (applicable from 1st
September 2018) which require newly qualified assessors to complete 5 hours of
SASC authorised, assessed CPD each
year before their first APC renewal plus a minimum of 5 hours
informal CPD each year.
For new assessors,
SASC has suggested that personalised mentoring should be included as part of
the increased CPD requirements, and a Patoss Professional Practice Mentor can
provide 5 hours of approved, assessed support. This could be used to discuss an
SpLD profile not previously encountered during training or clarification of a
test or assessment procedure that you may not have had the opportunity to use
before.
As an experienced
assessor you may wish to use Patoss mentoring as a way of checking and
reaffirming your practice, in line with current thinking and guidelines. In
this way, mentoring can provide a ‘sounding board' for you to share ideas and
hypotheses with a mentor before coming to diagnostic conclusions.
When preparing for
an APC renewal, Patoss mentoring can also help build up confidence in your
assessment practice, providing guidance on specific areas of report writing in
line with current regulations.
Whatever age range
you work within or the stage of your SpLD assessment career, the 5 hour Patoss
Mentoring Programme can provide bespoke support. Specific aims will be agreed
between the mentee and mentor at the start of the mentoring programme and there
will be an opportunity to evaluate and reflect upon the learning / development
that has taken place. This process will assist in fulfilling the SASC
requirements for a reflective CPD log and help in the identification and
planning of ongoing CPD activities.
The Patoss
Mentoring Programme provides 5 hours of personalised, assessed and SASC
approved CPD. The aims and content will be planned and agreed between the
mentee and mentor at the start of the package, therefore it is appropriate for:
·
Newly qualified SpLD assessors
·
SpLD Assessors wishing to
improve or refresh their current practice
·
SpLD Assessors approaching APC
renewal
Included in the
mentoring programme subscription is one year's access to the online Patoss
Professional Community Forum. This provides the opportunity to network with
like-minded professionals to discuss issues around the assessment and support
of specific learning difficulties The content of
the forum is closely monitored by Patoss.
Audience
Patoss members and non – members who have a qualification in SpLD
assessment.
