    Education Access is pleased to offer this new SASC-approved course exploring the recently-released report format and the 2025 definition of specific learning difficulties in maths, including dyscalculia. This course will:

    1.     Give you confidence in your understanding of the 2025 SASC definition of SPLD in maths, including dyscalculia.

    2.     Explore domain and specific general areas to be assessed

    4.     Map findings to the SASC 2025 report format, with a deep dive into IDS-2 as a basis (including sample analysis paragraphs and appendices)

Description

This course is presented by Rebecca Thompson, who is a member of the SASC Working Group on the assessment of mathematics difficulties. It will give attendees confidence in their understanding of the 2025 SASC definition of SPLD in maths, and update good practise and knowledge of “what is dyscalculia?” It will use the IDS 2 assessment to demonstrate how a suitable test can be mapped to the new definition.  You will leave with the knowledge of how ot use the new report format. The requirements and expectations of what is now required when carrying out a formal diagnostic report for SPLD in maths will be explored.  Attendees will leave confident in using the new report format when writing a report for an SPLD in maths. 

Resources provided

Access to an editable report templates, 

Hypothesis testing model for SPLD in maths (based on the Delphi equivalent),

writing frames, 

comparion of test areas, with a focus on IDS2 and WJIV,

a comprehensive mapping document. 

The programme is designed to take 3 hours. The programme will be delivered as a live online webinar, the main content of which will be recorded and made available for later access to new delegates and existing delegates. 

There will also be opportunity to ask questions which will be answered at the end of the live webinar. 

During the live delivery, there will be pauses for thoughts, which participants can offer responses to online. These will consist of:  

·      Question – “What is the thing that surprises you most about the new report format?”, followed by a short discussion and analysis of the responses, by the presenter.

·      Question – “What is the primary aspect you will go away from here to actively research further?”, offering a chance to reflect on the content of the course.

·      An evaluation form to be filled in at the end.

There will also be opportunity to ask questions which will be answered at the end of the live webinar.

Learning outcomes

      To have confidence in using the new definition of SPLD in maths, including dyscalculia, when writing diagnostic assessment reports

·       To acquire a sound understanding of 2025 SASC regulations and requirements for Diagnostic Assessment Reports for SPLD in maths, including in depth coverage of  IDS 2.

·       Evaluate and reflect on your own report writing in relation to the above
