Delphi study authors Julia Carroll, Caroline Holden and Paul Thompson will present the methods and conclusions of the Delphi dyslexia study and its formulation of a new definition of dyslexia.

Delphi study authors Julia Carroll and Caroline Holden will present the results and implications for assessment of the Delphi dyslexia study in the context of a new definition of dyslexia.

Overview and comparison of cognitive abilities tests available to specialist assessors - Moving on from the WRIT

Rachel Simpson, outgoing Chair SASC’s SpLD Test Evaluation Committee (STEC)

Rachel will give an overview of the large batteries of intelligence/cognitive processing tests that have been added to the SpLD Test Evaluation Committee Pre-16/Post 16 List of Suitable Tests for the Assessment of Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) in recent years. This overview will be set within the context of developments in IQ testing. The purpose will be to provide assessors with information which may assist in updating their assessment toolkit.

The Tests of Dyslexia (TOD): strengths, weaknesses and guidance for assessors

Armande Fryatt (STEC) will present an overview of the newly reviewed Tests of Dyslexia. Molly Ware and Jaimie Banks from Hogrefe (UK test distributor) will take further questions about the test.

Intelligence and Development Scales -2nd Edition (IDS-2): strengths, weaknesses and guidance for assessors

Louise van der Valk, incoming Chair of STEC and Jane Yeomans (STEC) will present an overview of this large battery of tests. Molly Ware and Jaimie Banks from Hogrefe (UK test publisher) will take further questions.

Cognitive Assessment System, 2nd Edition (CAS-2): strengths, weaknesses and guidance for assessors

Jane Yeomans (STEC) will present an overview of this cognitive skills battery. Molly Ware and Jaimie Banks from Hogrefe (UK test distributor) will take further questions.

 

Friday 17 May 2024 10am  

Issues in defining dyscalculia

Janet Goring (Chair of SASC’s dyscalculia and maths difficulties working party) will present an update from the working party, focusing in particular on issues concerning the definition of dyscalculia.

 

 

The conference events are free of charge to all SASC members. 

 

Note the sessions will all be recorded and made available to those unable to attend at the original broadcast time.
